Profile of an Activist: Ruth Perrault (2/98)

February 1998: Ruth Perrault of Rockport, one of the “founding” members of the Eight Towns and the Bay Committee, recently stepped down after several years of dedicated service.

Ruth became aware of 8T&B through serving on the Rockport Conservation Commission, on which she served for 17 years. During her tenure with the Conservation Commission, she acted in the capacity of both Chairman and Vice Chairman, and worked tirelessly to promote the protection of Rockport's coastline, water quality and open space.

Ruth became involved with the Rockport Water Quality Task Force in 1994. The Task Force, funded by 8T&B, identified and remediated coastal water pollution issues in the town. She also had a special interest in promoting environmental education both in the schools and to the general public.

All of the 8T&B Committee members would like to thank Ruth for her commitment to improving water quality in Rockport. Thank you Ruth - you are a true environmental steward!
