Fall Migration at Dead Creek

  • Date:  Sat, August 27th
  • Time:  7:00-11:00 AM
  • Location:  Meet at the crossing of Rt.17 and Dead Creek, 2 miles west of Addison.  We will look for shorebirds and other fall migrants in the Dead Creek area and other sites in Addison County.

Hawkwatch at Buck Mt. in Waltham

  • Date:  Sept. 11th
  • Time:  10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Location:  Buck Mt.
  • Joint with Otter Creek Audubon Society
  • Meet at Colonial Deli and General Store, at the junction of Rte 7 and 17.

Trip to Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge

  • Date:  Sun, October 2nd
  • Time:  8:00 AM to Noon
  • Location:  Meet at new NWR HQ Building on Tabor Rd. (West off Rte78)
  • We will be looking for migrating ducks, raptors, woodland birds, etc.
  • Trip Leader:  Michele Patenaude - For the last several years Michele has covered Missisquoi for the Vermont Breeding Bird Atlas.

Nesting Strategies of Vermont Birds

  • Date:  Wed. November 2nd
  • Time:  6:30 PM
  • Location:  Shelburne’s Pierson Library
  • A talk and slide program by Roy Pilcher about the different kinds of nests that birds build, starting from primitive scrapes on the ground and progressing to the most advanced, such as hanging nests designed by Baltimore Orioles. Roy has lots of beautiful slides.
