Volunteer on Hog Island

All camp volunteer positions have a 5-day minimum requirement for length of stay. If a volunteer wants to stay for more than one session and/or wants to change the focus of the volunteer duties after serving one week, arrangements can be made. The Camp will provide room and board for subsequent weeks. Volunteer sessions generally coincide with Camp sessions, but can vary.

Camp doctor/nurse. (1 per session)
Lend your expertise to the first aid efforts of a camp session. Session tuition is reduced by two-thirds.

Program assistant. (2 or 3 per session)
Assist instructors with field duties like helping campers with field guides or carrying a first aid kit on field trips, among other things. Also, help with meal prep 1/2 hour before dinner and lunch, when possible. Be generally ready to pitch in as needed. Program assistant volunteers will attend most field trips. Session tuition is reduced by two-thirds. (Participation in a kayak session is not an option).

Volunteer kitchen aide. (1-4 per session)
Assist the kitchen staff in meal prep, serving, and clean-up during four days of a week-long session. The other days can be spent relaxing in camp, exploring the island, or accompanying field trips on a space-available basis. No prior experience is necessary. Session tuition is totally free. (Participation in a kayak session is not an option).

Maintenance volunteer. (1-3 per session)
Help the sanctuary caretaker with light maintenance chores. No prior experience is necessary. Session tuition is reduced by two-thirds. (Participation in a kayak session is not an option).

Assist with FOHI Fundraising

Contact potential donors.

Give a public “ambassador” talk.

Organize volunteers.

Write for Across the Narrows

Write ATN news and stories.

Contribute ideas for ATN.

Prepare ATN mailings.
