The Ipswich Bay Circuit Trail is maintained by members of the Ipswich Bay Circuit Trail Committee (IBCTC) and other volunteers, including Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and other organizations in town. Should you encounter any problems with markings, maps, descriptions, or with the trail itself, please contact a member of the committee so that we can take appropriate action.
The IBCTC maintains a close relationship with the Open Space Committee, the Planning Board and the Conservation Commission to assure that when a parcel of land is proposed for development, open space and trails will be preserved. Trails and cart roads are often a part of our history and it behooves us to use them and keep them open and known.
1999 members of the IBCTC were:
- Lawrence Eliot, Chairman
- Barbara Carpenter
- Mary Cunningham
- Patrick Glennon
- Barbara Ostberg
- Ralph Williams
The committee meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the Ipswich Town Hall in the Historical Commission's office at 7:30 pm. We welcome interested residents at our meetings and on our committee.
An informal hiking group meets at the Town Wharf on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 during the fall and most of the winter and spring months to explore the trails in and about Ipswich. All are welcome. For more information, please call 356-5823.
